Summary
Connel Ferry East was one of two new signal boxes opened in 1903 when the layout was considerably enlarged, concurrent with the opening of the Ballachulish branch. The signal box closed in 1967.
18 August 1903
New layout brought into use and signal box opened.
28 August 1903
Lt. Col. Yorke (Board of Trade) reported on his inspection of the following alterations:
- New Down Main Line through the station.
- Old Down Main Line converted to the Up Main Line.
- Old Up Main Line converted to Up and Down Line for the Branch.
- Provision of a Bay for the Branch Line trains.
- General new arrangement of the sidings.
Two new signal boxes had been built and the signalling rearranged:
- New West Box - 44 working and 8 spare levers and 4 spaces.
- New East Box - 36 working and 6 spare levers.
