Connel Ferry
(1968–Present)
Summary
For a period slightly in excess of one year since the closure of the signal boxes, Connel Ferry had been without any working points or signals. There was just a single platform on the Up side. A Shell oil storage depot had been established on the site of the former goods yard, and early in 1968, sidings and a run-round loop were opened. The two associated ground frames were released by the section tablet (key token from 1974). RETB was commissioned in 1988, and Connel Ferry became a token exchange point. The oil traffic ceased in 1993, although the sidings remained until 2021.
