This was where the Callander and Oban Railway made a junction with the Dunblane, Doune and Callander Railway. Callander & Oban Junction signal box was replaced in 1902 when the line to Callander East was doubled, but it closed in 1938 when the line was singled again. The former Down line was retained to provide access to the goods yard (at the former DD&CR terminus station) from Callander East.
Capt. Tyler (Board of Trade) reported on his inspection, having walked the new Callander and Oban Railway between Callander and Killin (i.e. Glenoglehead) stations on 18 and 19 May. He recommended the following alterations and additions at the junction between the present (i.e. DD&CR) Callander station, which in future would become the goods station, and the new line:
Line opened between Callander and Killin (i.e. Glenoglehead). Signal box opened.
Signalling alterations.

Col. Pringle (Board of Trade) reported on his inspection of the doubling of the single line to Callander station. This end was originally a goods junction with the single line, and the works and signal arrangements were practically new. In addition to the necessary alterations, a new crossover road had been provided, facing to running lines. A new signal box had been erected on the south side of the line to replace the former box, and the new frame had 27 levers of which 5 were spare and correctly interlocked. The single line tablet instruments had been replaced by double line block instruments.
